New Program will Prepare Over 2,000 Students Each Year With Invaluable Financial Modeling Skills

New York, NY — Project Destined, a leading social impact platform that provides training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and real estate is excited to announce a new collaboration with the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYU SPS) Schack Institute of Real Estate, which will create a Teaching Fellowship that affords unparalleled access to technical training including financial modeling and Excel fundamentals for diverse undergraduate students.

“We are excited to collaborate with NYU SPS to provide our community with unparalleled access to technical training,” said Project Destined Founder Cedric Bobo. “This initiative is a powerful example of higher education and business leaders working together to translate words into action by providing diverse undergraduates with the skills and access required to build a great career while also impacting their community.”

The inaugural Project Destined Teaching Fellowship will feature leading Schack Institute of Real Estate professors and will provide free, year-round access to live, financial modeling training for students participating in Project Destined’s Flagship Virtual Internship Program. The program will support an annual pipeline of 2,000+ diverse students from 125+ institutions of higher learning, composed of HBCUs, public universities, and community colleges. These students will receive continuous access to educational resources and will be equipped with the technical knowledge, network, and confidence needed to obtain competitive, early career roles in acquisitions, development, investment management, private equity, capital markets, and property management.

“NYU SPS is thrilled to be a part of this important collaboration that serves to build critical skill sets, which will increase access and opportunity to a more diverse and inclusive set of students,” said Angie Kamath, dean of the NYU School of Professional Studies. “These skills will help to future-proof our students and pave the way for their continued success in a broad array of real estate and finance-related fields.”

This summer, two teaching fellows, Jerrod Delaine and Shawn Dacey, who are both graduates of the Schack Institute and who also serve as adjunct professors there, will work with Project Destined to deliver customized training to diverse students from 35 markets across the US, Canada, UK, and Europe.

“This collaboration exemplifies our shared dedication to increasing the pipeline of diverse professionals in the real estate industry,” said Jerrod Delaine ’12, adjunct instructor, Schack Institute of Real Estate and CEO, Legacy Real Estate Development. “I am excited to work with the Schack Institute and Project Destined to provide the next generation with the tools that will lead them to thrive in the real estate finance industry.” [NYU]
